And that list doesn’t even include those wonderful off-the-radar films that surprise you.

Intelligent, Condescending Life Discovered In... →
“When we sent them examples of our very best cultural offerings, they said they ‘rather enjoyed the amusing little tinklings’ of Mozart and the ‘adorable scribblings’ of Rembrandt,’” said Morrison, adding that his team will no longer transmit samples of music and art for the aliens to belittle. “They then said they could completely understand how our...

Whenever I do get married,
it’s going to be on February 29th so I only have to worry about the anniversary once every four years.
And since I’m going to be married before I’m thirty years old, my wedding will either be in 2016 or 2020. Unless, of course, I meet someone tomorrow and we have a wild day that culminates in a drive-thru marriage.
It didn't really hit me until I got home tonight.
I guess I was still expecting her to be sleeping on the couch as I walked through the door. I was still expecting her head to whip at the sound, look around for a moment until she noticed me, then jump down, still half asleep, and bound over to my feet until I pet her for a bit and playfully chased her away.
I’ve been greeted like this every day for the last fourteen years. It...

I'm normally very patient.
But not with this.
No, the painful thing about waiting for this is that there’s nothing I can do to accelerate the process. I’ve set my course, raised the sails, and now it’s just time to sit back and sail for a long, long time until I reach my destination.
That’s a good metaphor for this, I think. People always say the journey is the point of a trip, right? Not in this...

I love Sacha Baron Cohen, but I was expecting...
I saw that coming from a mile away.
It was Ryan Seacrest. Who cares?
You spilled fake ashes on a guy. OMG NOOOOO-
It was Ryan Seacrest. Who cares?
-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO-
Seriously. Ryan Seacrest. Of all the people to screw with!
-OOOOOO!
I enjoy long walks on the Internet.

Co-worker: It's easier to be killed by a terrorist than it is to find a husband over the age of 40!
Annie: That statistic is not true!
Becky: That's right it's not true, but it feels true.

I don't understand the mentality some people have...
Overall, of course, I don’t see the attraction of getting something inked on my skin; if it’s important enough that I want it to be on me for the rest of my life, there’s a good chance it will have already made a big impact internally and thus negate the need to externally display it.
No, what I don’t understand, outside of my personal preference about tattoos, are people...

Joe: So who is he, I wonder? Certainly not, I gather, the world's greatest living expert on Julius and Ethel Rosenberg. But somebody else entirely different. Will you be mean to him, too?
Kathleen: No, I will not. Because the man who is coming here tonight is completely unlike you. The man who is coming here tonight is kind and funny, he has the most wonderful sense of humor...
Joe: But... He's not here.
Kathleen: Well, if he's not here, he has a reason, because there is not a cruel or careless bone in his body. But I wouldn't expect you to understand anybody like that. You with your theme park, multi-level, homogenize-the-world mochaccino land. You've deluded yourself into thinking that you're some sort of benefactor, bringing books to the masses. But no one will ever remember you, Joe Fox. And maybe no one will remember me, either, but plenty of people remember my mother, and they think she was fine, and they think her store was something special. You are nothing but a suit!
Joe: That's my cue.

I'm going to binge on Meg Ryan romantic comedies...
Prepare for copious amounts of quotes and reblogs from You’ve Got Mail, Sleepless in Seattle, When Harry Met Sally, and I.Q. (And if you’re curious, the order of the leading men goes Tom Hanks, then Billy Crystal and Tim Robbins. The latter two are great, but come on. We’re talking Tom Hanks here).
